Liangmai book released; students can refer it for research purpose

Imphal, July 14 2018:
A book on Liangmai tribe titled "Liangmai Lungwangbo Racham khatdi Talungzai" was released by MLA Awangbow Newmai in Imphal on July 12.Thebookis written by Kaikhamang Daimai, retired Joint Director of Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Government of Manipur.
The book contains a chapter each on the practices of Liangmai community including their festivals, their origin, culture and tradition among others.
The book can be best described as "Many in One".
The book can be referred for research purpose also.
According to the author, the book which comprised of 177 pages was written in 2015 .
Speaking on the occasion, Awangbow Newmai said that the book will bridge olden days of Liangmai community with today's generation.
"We have enough oral materials about Liangmai community but the historical facts and heritage are bound to get diluted or lost owing to the absence of written materials such as this book", stated Awangbow.
He lauded the author for coming out with such well researched book.
The Foreword of the book is written by Mani Cherenamai, former Lok Sabha MP .
Kaikhamang Daimai travelled to several villages and met with the elders to gather materials for the book.
The book releasing ceremony was held at Liangmai Baptist Church, Dewlahlane and participated by many Liangmai leaders and intellectuals.
