Imphal, June 25 2014: The Chandel District Naga-Kuki Joint Committee has been rechristened as Chandel District Tribals Action Committee in a public meeting held at Liwachangning Village Community Hall today.

The meeting, which was presided by WS Kanral Anal, President of Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) discussed on many issues besieging the district.

The meeting also elected Jammang Baite, President of Kuki People's Forum, Chandel District as the Convenor and Gilbert, Former president of Chandel Naga People's Organization as a co-convenor of a 'Search Committee' .

In the meeting, the Chandel District Tribals Action Committee was entrusted to work for the causes of the district and protect the tribal land and their rights.

Tribe leaders, village chiefs, civil society organization leaders, women union leaders, student leaders, intellectuals of both Naga and Kuki attended the meeting.
