AR empowers youth, clarifies

Imphal, January 11 2013: Out of 2050 call letters issued for the recruitment rallies held at Pallel and keithelmanbi in 2012 a total of 850 candidates passed the final test and basic initial criteria out of which 600 youth finally got enrolled based on authorised vacancy, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release issued today.

Conveying that the enrolment of such a high number of Manipuri candidates was due to the initiative and pre-recruitment training programmes conducted by various Assam Rifles units, the release quoted the IGAR (S) as saying that the para-military force is equally determined to sustain sports movement in the State.

Manipur insurgency is at the cross roads of the testing times and IGAR (S) has been at the forefront of guiding and motivating the youth of Manipur to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream.

Inspite of the prevailing security situation, our focus has been to provide the necessary impetus in the field of education, sports and health care, the release maintained.

Pointing out that from adoption of schools in remote areas to patronage of sports, AR have reached out to the students and their parents, the release further noted that talent of the youth has been news grabber at every forum and grooming them by AR has resulted in a large number of students winning laurels at State and national levels.

In an all out effort to bring back normalcy in the State, Assam Rifles has carved a niche in the society by bringing the unemployed youth to join the esteemed soldiering profession in the service of the nation.

In their efforts to bring about a paradigm shift in the motivational level and assisting the youths to join a respectable career, all battalions deployed in Manipur have been facilitating the recruitment of these youth into CAPF and CPMF at all stages, it said.

Assam Rifles in Manipur have carried out recruitment in two centres namely Keithelmanbi and Pallel under the new system of recruitment through SSC in the year 2012, unlike in other NE States except Assam where only one centre was nominated.

These efforts were made to offer maximum opportunities to the eligible youths from different areas of Manipur to get recruited.

With regard to news report in most of the dailies with 'purported conveyance of one sided attractive story', the IGAR (S) highlighted that till date many surrender have taken place, including surrendering of UG cadres before the AR, Army, CRPF and CM/DGP.

In none of the cases any one 'not belonging to a particular group' has surrendered as their antecedents are verified to avoid any ambiguity.

Many a times cases have come to light that young boys group of two to 5-7 were intercepted at IB with their guides detailed and UG groups crossing over to Myanmar for recruitment and were handed over to police and in some cases direct to the parents through meira paibis and other social organisation, said the IGAR (S) .

But this particular media flashing without proper investigation into the issue has been done which not only casts slur on the good work Assam Rifles is engaged in, creates bad impression which goes in favour of the UG organisation and intents to in-balance smooth relation with civil administration too without much of gain, it added.
