HSLC exam results declared: LFS, NBS steal the limelight

Imphal, May 25 2018: Two premier girls schools of the State viz; Litter Flower School and Nirmalabas School have once again completely dominated the merit list of High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2018 conducted by BoSEM.

Whereas Little Flower School bagged the top three positions although the second and third positions are shared with other schools, Nirmalabas School has many as 16 students in the merit list of the best 25 .

The second best school after Nirmalabas School in terms of the number of students who made it to the merit list is Catholic School, Canchipur.

The school performed exceptionally well with eight of their students securing positions.

Little Flower School and Tiny Tots' Unique School follow closely behind with seven students each securing their places in the merit list.

Results of HSCLE 2018 was officially declared by Education Minister Th Radheshyam at the office of BoSEM this afternoon.

Little Flower School's Yaiphaibi Mayengbam secured the top position with a total mark of 573 out of 600 .

She is the daughter of Mayengbam Monokanta and Ngangbam Ibetombi of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak.

Surjakanta Irengbam of Ch Thambou High School, Mayang Imphal and Patel Lairenjam of Little Flower School shared the second position.

They secured 572 total marks, one lesser than the topper.

Brahmacharimayum Balkrishna Sharma of Padma Ratna English School.

Kakching and Angela Athokpam of Little Flower School are placed joint third.

They secured total mark of 570 each.

Th Radheshyam said that the overall pass percentage was 73.18 (males 78.85 and females 74.70) .

Saying that the rise in pass percentage is not yet satisfactory, he asserted that the examination currently in practice would be reviewed.

Radheshyam claimed that more and more parents have started reposing their faith in Government schools and teachers have started teaching with greater dedication.

The Education Minister went on to exude confidence that Government schools would perform much better in HSLCE 2019 .

Pointing out that failure is a stepping stone to success, he appealed to all the candidates who are unsuccessful this year to learn a lesson from their failure and work harder.

He further appealed to parents of all unsuccessful students to give more attention to the education of their children.

Notably, as many as 71 students made it to the top 25 merit list.
