Anti-Rumour mobile number opened, 65 trucks arrive

Imphal, May 16 2023: Apart from informing that sit-uation has been returning to normalcy and curfew relaxation hours extend-ed in all the districts affected by the communal violence, security advisor to Manipur Kuldiep Singh has said that a rumour free mobile number has been activated through which people can clarify any rumours before believing the same.

The security advisor also appealed the people to contact mobile 9485280461 for clarification before believing any rumour and further made his earnest appeal to all sections of the society to not spread misinformation but to put in all efforts to restore peace and nor-malcy and verify any false information.

Addressing the media on Tuesday at CM secretariat, Kuldiep said a total of 1674 LPG cylinders have been escorted to Churachandpur from Sekmai bot-tling plant by combined teams of AR, CRPF and BSF and 74 trucks (LPG - 3, Petrol-17, Diesel-32, Cement -12, Goods-9, Empty-1) coming from Jiribam have reached Barak at about 1.25 pm.

Another 24 trucks (Oil Tanker-4, Potato-1, Cement -4, Mimi noodles-8, AC block-1 & fertilizer-6) have left Noney for Imphal around 1.25 pm.

He also said that 169 trucks (Oil Tanker 31, Goods loaded trucks-138) are still at Khongnem area in Senapati district.

The security advisor also informed that number of deaths as of Tuesday is recorded at 73 out of which 41 are con-firmed to be related with the present violence while the number of injured is 243.He also said that the number of arson cases reached 1813 and a total of 738 FIRs have been registered so far.

Imphal West district registered highest number of FIRs with 282, followed by 84 in Imphal East, 48 in Bishnupur, 31 in Kakching, 66 in Thoubal, two in Jiribam, 56 in Churachandpur, seven in Tengnoupal, 59 in Kangpokpi, two in Tamenglong and one in Pherzawl district while 30 persons have been ar-rested in connection with the violence.

Regarding recovery of arms snatched from security posts during the violence, Kuldiep Singh said a total of 456 arms have been recovered as of May 15 out of the total 1,070 snatched during the violence.

About incidents happened on May 15, the security advisor said that at about 12.50 pm some suspected Kuki militants numbering around 20/30 came from surrounding hill areas and entered 'Teak Resort and Picnic Spot' located at Hatikhuwa, Kanglatongbi under Sekmai PS in Imphal West district.

The militants broke glass of window of a shop opened in the resort owned by Usham Lenin son of S Usham Tomba of Awang Sekmai Awang Leikai and took away some edible items.

They attempt-ed to burn the shop by pouring fuel but did not succeed.

One platoon of CRPF rushed to the area and prevented any further unwanted incident and CRPF personnel are camping in the area.

At about 2pm, one truck trailer was burnt down at Milestone 34 at T Leijang village area under New Keithelmanbi PS in Kangpokpi district by suspected militants.

In another incident on May 15 at about 2pm, three tribal from Khonkhu village near Leimakhong under Sek-mai PS in Imphal West were chased by miscreants near Makhan village.

Immediately police team led by OC Sekmai PS and two CDOs teams rushed to the spot.

On arrival at the spot, it was learnt that two of them have fled and took shelter at Makhan village chief's house.

The other person was rescued from the miscreants by police with the help of Awang Sekmai Khunou public and villagers.

Meanwhile, a late report said that a total of 65 trucks strand-ed along NH-37 (Imphal-Jirib-am) road since the outbreak of the violence reached Imphal late Tuesday evening.

The trucks including 35 fuel tankers were escorted by a combined team of Manipur police, CRPF and Assam Rifles.

The report also said that many trucks in-cluding bullet tankers are along Jiribam bound road in Assam and the trucks are expected tc reach Jiribam on Wednesday.

According to the report, many Imphal bound trucks are now stranded at Senapa-ti and Dimapur along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) road and there is no measure for escort-ing the trucks as of now.

In a release, Central Control Room in-charge AK Jhalajit Singh informed that any law and order situation and distress call may be reported to 9485280419 or 9485280461, which are operational 24X7 .
