SDSA demands immediate appoinment of ZEO in Senapati

Senapati, September 07 2017: In view of the continued absence of Zonal Education Officer in Senapati, the Senapati District Students' Association, has demanded the State Government to immediately intervene and appoint a Head of the Department to save the deteriorating Department .

A press release issued by general secretary of the association stated that the functioning of the Department has been greatly hampered as the incumbent ZEO office has not been punctual since the time of joining, from on May 11 and the office is always shut .

It may be recalled that he succeeded SL Rangsong following an order issued by the State Government .

In absence the ZEO, several of his subordinate officers including the DI and AI are taking turns in running the Department on his behalf, however the Department is left paralysed due to the prolonged absence of the HoD .

Consequently, all processes related to financial matters, other than the day-to-day file work are still pending .

Regarding the dereliction of payment of salaries, the staff have lamented and added that the absence of the ZEO has resulted in irregular payment of salaries for the staff .

Moreover, students who need countersign on their documents, for admission to further studies, are facing many hardships as they have to wait for the official to come to the office .

It has been also learnt that the prolonged absence of two heads of the Department has resulted in various shortfalls in implementing Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) schemes in the district .

"Considering all these grievances, we strongly demand that the State government immediately intervene and appoint a regular ZEO, preferably a senior officer from the district who can run the Department effectively", the association asserted .

Expressing displeasure at the indifferent attitude of the State Government, the SDSA questioned why the State Government is not bothered to resolve the problem till date although it is fully aware that the issue of ZEO in the district .

Notably, the ZEO has been issuing instruction to his staff over the telephone while summoning them to Imphal under one pretext or the other, it added .

Further, SDSA appealed all Government officials to attend to their duties with diligence in the interest of the general public .

"We will no longer tolerate any dereliction of duties on the part of the Government employees and we will ensure that the interest of the general public is upholded even if it means the removal of certain officials from their offices', the association stated.
