Bandh, Blockade not the solution says P Chidambaram

Tamenglong, November 03 2011: 'I haven't come to campaign for election or seek your support but I just want to ask one thing that every community in Manipur must live together as brothers and sisters.

Whether you are Meiteis or Nagas or Kukis or Tangkhul, or Zeliangrong, or from other community, every community should live together as brother and sister in peace and harmony', said P Chidambaram, Union Home Minister during his short visit to Tamenglong.

P Chidambaram said that a lot of developmental works is taking place in Manipur and if funds are needed for the hill districts, the central government will provide the same.

Money is not the problem, the problem is the inability to do the works wisely.

In this regard, he also stressed the importance of completing project in time.

The Home Minister was addressing a public meeting at the Tamenglong public ground after inaugurating Tamenglong Mini Secretariat complex and Jawahar Navodiya Vidyalaya building at Tamenglong district headquarters.

He also inaugurated two 33/11KV sub-stations at Tamei and Tousem sub-divisions in the district.

The Home Minister accompanied by Chief Minister O Ibobi touched down at 10 am and immediately inaugurated the JNV School at Duikanglong first.

Chidambaram also inaugurated Jawahar Navodiya Vidyalaya at Tamenglong district head quarters.

There is no issue that cannot be solved through debates and discussions said the Home Minister and asserted that bandh, blockade is not the solution.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said talks on any issue will be arranged anywhere or any place of the State according to wishes of the concerned groups like United Naga Council (UNC) and imposition of bandh and blockade often will only be a loss for those who take up such agitations.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while stressing the importance of health care sector urged the concern contractor to expedite and complete the 50 bedded hospital at Duigailong.

Tamenglong district which was once known as the most backward districts of the state will change into one of the most advanced districts after the taking up various developmental works.

He also hoped that the Union Minister, P Chidambaram will convey the grievances and problems of Tamenglong to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.

The Chief Minister reiterated the need to live together in peace and harmony and "if there is any problems let us discuss and solve the issue".

Further terming disturbances and incomplete works as a bottleneck to development, he appealed for cooperation to the SPF government in carrying out development works.

Many memorandums were submitted to P.Chidambaram, Union home Minister and Chief Minister, Manipur by various social organizations of Zeliangrong people including VACC, ZU, ZB, TAMBAC, Congress Mahilla and Farmland women society.

Besides Home Minister P.Chidambaram and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Phungzathang Tonsing, Minister of power, DD Thaisii, Minister of Education, Shambu Singh, Jt Secy N.E Govt of India, A.K.Yadav, OSD Home Affairs, Khangthuanang Panmei, Vice Chairman HAC, Gaikhangam, President MPCC, N.Awangbou MLA, M.P Goud, Addl Director General, Col Chhonkar, Commandant 11 AR, C Arthur W.IAS DC Tamenglong, district level officers and public leaders attended the public meeting held at Multipurpose hall at newly build Mini Secretariat.
