Of the four members of a family who sustained injuries in a fire mishap, one woman succumbed today.
The tragic fire mishap took place in a dwelling house located at Kontha Khabam Makha Leikai under Heingang police station at about 7.10 pm of April 23, informed a police source.
Four members of the family��Phijam Chaoba (52), his wife Dashumati (47), their son Rameshwar (31) and daughter-in-law Dhaneshwari sustained burn injuries.
Dhaneshwari who was undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals after being shifted from RIMS succumbed to injuries today.
She suffered third degree burns all over her body.
Her husband Rameshwar, was however, discharged from Catholic Medical Centre in the same night after giving first aid as his injury was minor.
Dashumati was discharged from RIMS the next day while Chaoba stayed back in the same hospital for further treatment.
According to Chingkhei, younger brother of Dhaneshwari, Chaoba was starting a quarrel with Dashumati in inebriated condition on the fateful night.
Chaoba also poured out petrol from a jerrican kept in the house.
As their daughter-in-law was struggling to pacify the quarrel, fire broke out all of a sudden injuring the four family members.
Heingnang Police have registered a case and started investigation into the case.
The corpse of Dhaneshwari has been claimed by her parents residing at Napet Palli after completing post mortem at RIMS today.
