CADA celebrates 18th Foundation Day

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) observed its 18th Foundation Day at its head office in Pureirombam Khongnangkhong, Koning Mamang, Imphal on Wednesday.
It was attended by UCM president, YK Dhiren; CADA president, Hijam Priyokumar; United Peoples' Front (UPF ) Manipur president, Nongthombam Rupachandra; NIPCO president, Oinam Premjit; MAPI Council president, KC Romio and AMPFA president, Konthoujam Thoiba Meitei as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, CADA secretary general, Geetchandra Mangang said, "The root cause of the ongoing conflict is drugs, so it is vital to focus on the main issue first and take necessary steps to curb the menace of drugs from Manipur" .
He asserted that despite the Government's Act East Policy focussing on development, the future of Manipur will always be threatened until appropriate measures are taken to combat the issue of drugs.
"It is of paramount importance to develop human resources and save the youths from drugs", he added.
He also shared that even though the State is known to the outside world for sports and its rich art & culture, drugs and alcohol abuse pose grave threats to the future of its youths.
Talking about the campaigns CADA has been undertaking since its establishment, Geetchandra said that curbing drugs and alcohol abuse require collective efforts of all stakeholders.
Further, Geetchandra appealed to the people to contribute in making Manipur a healthy and liquor-free society.
