ILPS movement moves on

Continuing with the mass protest movements for implementation of Inner Line Permit System, a protest demonstration was staged today at Irom Pukhri Mapal Social Club ground.
The protesters largely comprising of local club volunteers and Meira Paibis put up placards which read as "ILPS could not be implemented in Manipur because of the weakness of the State Government", "Enforce ILPS in Manipur, save indigenous people", "Implementation of ILPS can save Manipur from the influx of outsiders" etc.
The protesters also pledged that they would support every course of action taken up by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System towards enforcement of ILPS in the State.
They also called upon all the indigenous people of the State, irrespective of whether one is residing in the hills or the valley, to struggle collectively for enforcement of ILPS in the State.
Similar protest demonstrations including protest rallies were staged at different parts of the State.
A protest rally was taken out at Kwakeithel.
The protesters shouted several slogans demanding enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.
Even as police asked the women protesters to turn back, they overcame the police barricade and marched ahead.
The rally was cut short by heavy downpour as it reached Takhellambam Leikai, Sega Road.
On the other hand, volunteers of Keishamthong Longjam Leirak Development Club and local Meira Paibis staged a sit-in-protest on the bank of Nambul river pressing for the same demand of enforcing ILPS in the State.
A similar protest demonstration was also staged at Patsoi Part II .
Other places where protest demonstrations were staged today in pursuit of the demand for implementation of ILPS in Manipur are Sambei community hall, Nongren community hall, Tera Sapam Leirak Nongmaithem Leikai, Ningthemcha Khul, Nongdam Keithel, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Waiton Keithel, Heirangoithong, Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal Community Hall and Moirang Kampu.
