TbI/Bpr, November 19 2024:
Public of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency have resolved that the five MLAs of Congress lead by Keisham Meghachandra shall not resign under duress.
The public will take the ultimate decision, they said.
This resolution was taken during a meeting held at Yairipok Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai Community Hall which was attended by his supporters and a large number of Wangkhem AC residents.
The public during the meeting expressed their disappointment over the decision of the five Congress MLAs to resign, and disapproval of the step amid volatile situations in the State.
The ruling Government for the past 18 months has failed to take any action or responsibility amid the ongoing conflict, but the Congress, understanding the people's sentiment, has tried every possible means to pressure the Government in the Assembly and outside, said the public in the meeting.
The decision of the five Congress MLAs to resign is ill-timed and devoid of any reasoning amid the crisis.
Instead.
the Ministers/MLAs who cannot protect and safeguard the lives of the public should resign first, said the public.
"When the Ministers/MLAs who have been mute spectators since the beginning of the conflict cannot resign, why should the Opposition MLAs resign?" asked the people.
Meanwhile, residents of Bishnupur Assembly Constituency have strongly opposed the decision of PWD Minister Govindas Konthoujam to resign as a Member of the State Assembly, and have made their stance to oppose the proposal for resignation of 50 MLAs amid the crisis before finding a solution first.
Speaking at the meeting held at Ibudhou Oknarel Shanglen Ningthoukhong, RK Pholmani said, the decision of the MLAs to resign at this juncture is unacceptable.
None of the 50 MLAs should resign without bringing an end to the crisis, he asserted.
"If the MLAs want to resign, they must first find a solution to end the conflict.
Only when the conflict ends, they may resign," said a woman who attended the meeting.
