School upgradation

Responding to the strong opposition raised by the president of Anal Chief Association, Chakpikarong block, Hl Thungngam Anal against the proposal to upgrade Toupokpi Junior High School to High School, the vice chairman of the School Management and Development Committee, Toupokpi Government Junior High School, in a statement has asserted that the proposal to upgrade the school is for the education of school children and development of Anal community.
In a statement, the vice chairman, Hb Chaningam Anal said that the upgradation of the said school will benefit a large number of villages, lying within a radius of 6 kms from the school site.
The villages were also listed.
Giving details, the vice chairman said that there are 15 Junior High Schools, 29 LP Schools and five High Schools under the Directorate of Education (S) in
Chandel district.
Out of this there are four Junior High School in Chakpikarong sub-division, said the statement and added that according to the latest SSA's DISE report of 2010-2011, the literacy rate of girl students is low in the said area.
Under RMSA, AWPB 2011-2012, proposals to upgrade Junior High Schools, other than Toupokpi Junior High Schools has also been forwarded but it is yet to be approved by the PAB.
Stating that the site of Toupokpi Jr High School is better suited than the areas proposed by Hl Thungam Anal, the vice-chairman of the question questioned which Government Junior High School is better placed for the upgradation and demanded an explanation for the statement published in this paper on May 16 .
