The Meira Paibi Welfare Association Kangleipak (MEPWAK) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Laishram Chinglenkhomba on March 12 as well as the rape of Nengneikim and attempt to murder by a personnel of 38 AR.
Likewise, taking strong exception to the rape of the 18 year old girl by 38 AR at Kotlen and subsequent assault on the journalists, the Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (MPAL), Bishnupur District has condemned the incidents terming these acts cases of gross violation of human rights.
It also condemned the brutal murder of Laishram Chinglenkhomba and flayed the failure of the State Government to deliver justice in most cases of killing, abduction, rape etc.
On the other hand, MPAL conveyed its gratitude to the proscribed RPF/PLA for delivering prompt justice in the murder case of Chinglenkhomba.
A press release issued by the North Imphal Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) also conveyed strong condemnation against the rape of an 18 year old girl by 38 AR personnel at Kotlen and physical assault and ill-treatment meted out to reporters who went there to cover the incident.
Joining the condemnation outcry against the rape of Nengneikim and assault on scribes by 38 AR which amounted to suppressing the freedom of press, the NCP Manipur Pradesh has urged all concerned, particularly the Government of Manipur, to take punitive actions against all guilty AR personnel.
Asserting that the rape of the 18 year old girl and assault and detention of scribes as acts only fit for animals, the Mayai Lambi Meira Paibisingi Lup (MALAMPAL) asked the security forces whether they were trained in outraging women before they were commissioned.
Taking strong exception to the continued atrocity committed by security forces against the people of the State including the recent rape of a girl by 38 AR personnel and physical assault on journalists, Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) has called upon the people to stand up together against the common challenge.
MAFYF al so demanded befitting punishment to the rapist AR personnel and all those guilty for assaulting journalists.
Observing that the harassment and detention of journalists in connection with the incident of rape of a girl by 38 AR at Kotlen was against the freedom of press guaranteed by the Constitution of India, the Man League Manipur noted that the incidents serve as clear testimony to the fact that the people of Manipur are being subjugated by security forces under Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958.The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) observed that the twin incidents of rape and assault on scribes were clear examples of security forces taking the law of the country into their own hands.
The Anti-Narcotic & Drugs Organisation Kangleipak has also condemned the acts of violating human rights and suppressing the freedom of press.
