Wildlife Week observed

The Jiribam Forest Division, Uchathol observed the National Wildlife Week and organised painting, essay and quiz competitions at New Life Academy, Uchathol, Jiribam.
The function was attended by Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, O Menjor Singh, Additional Superintendent of police and Hopson Zimik, Project Manager, New Life Academy as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Almost 50 students participated in the competitions.
The Wildlife Week was also observed at Kangpokpi and various competitions like spot painting, article writing and quiz on Wildlife theme "Protection on wildlife and other habitat" were organized by District Wildlife Warden cum Divisional Forest Officer, Northern Forest Division, Kangpokpi at Divisional level at Apex Christian High School, Motbung today.
The programme was attended by Kh Shyam Singh, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Northern Circle, Government of Manipur and Sh Shamu Singh, MFS (Retd) as chief guest and functional president respectively while P Joychandra Singh, Principal, ACHS attended the occasion as guest of honour.
More than 100 students from various educational institutions within Sadar Hills including 38 students participated in spot painting, 33 students in article writing and 32 students in quiz competitions.
According to TS Haokip, Divisional Forest Officer, Northern Forest Division, Kangpokpi, Govt.of Manipur the Wildlife week will be celebrated till October 7 while adding that a cash prize of Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs1,000 along with certificate will awarded to those winners in spot painting, article writing and quiz competition respectively.
State level prize winners for painting and article writing will be selected from the first, second and third winners of the district level competition asserted TS Haokip.
During the National Wildlife Week observation at Hermon Jr High School, Moreh, organised by Kuki Students' Organisation, several competitions were conducted under the wildlife theme.
Mount Moreh Public School, Eastern Shine School, Hermon Jr High School, Bethsaida Academy School, Government Higher Secondary School and Netaji Memorial English School took part in the competition.
