Cong piles HP Bill heat on BJP Govt

Congress spokesperson and MLA Kh Joykisan has said that the Congress party would move a Private Member Resolution Bill to try and pass a new set of Bills to save the indigenous people if the State Government neglects its duties during the coming Monsoon Assembly session.
He made the statement at a welcome ceremony of former Speaker Th Lokeshore at Khundrakpam Awang Leikai community hall organised by Khundrakpam Western Block Congress Committee today.
Speaking at the event, Joykisan said that the Congress Government, during its rule, had passed three Bills and tried to implement ILP system in the State but eventually failed due to lack of support from the Central Government.
He urged the new State Government to pass a new set of Bills acceptable to all sections of the people during the coming monsoon Assembly session adding that if the State Government fails in its duty to protect the interest of the public, the Congress, as an Opposition would move a Private Member Resolution Bill to try and pass the Bills.
Speaking about the Churachandpur incident in which nine individuals were killed, Joykisan asked why BJP is still not able to bring any definite conclusion to the issue even though it is now in power in the State.
He said that only honesty can improve the relation between the hills and the valley and trumpeting empty words and promises to resolve urgent and pressing issues is not the right path.
"Sanctioning huge funds to hill areas would not automatically result in love and friendship.
It needs honesty", he added.
Praising the State Government for lifting the economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council on the National -Highways, Kh Joykisan said that the Government should make the public aware of the conditions under which the UNC agreed to lift their blockade.
He further asked why the BJP, which had earlier slammed the then Congress Government for not being able to eliminate � UG camps, are not able to close any of the camps themselves ; now that they are in power.
Joykisan urged the new State Government to try and eliminate the NSCN (IM) camps present in the State.
Slamming BJP, he claimed that the Con- -gress party, which was the single largest party in the election, did not form the Government because it is a party of strict principles and urged the people to stay alert of political parties and leaders who do not care about the welfare of the State nor its integrity nor the people as long as it is able to rule and gain power.
