Candidate appeals for investigation of recruitment process

Imphal, December 24 2017: A disappointed candidate has submitted a memo to the Chief Minister as well as the Health Minister, to investigate the process of the DPC for the recruitment of 378 Multi tasking staff/ Grade IV posts of the Health Department which was conducted during the time of the previous State Government .

According to a source, the candidate, Ningombam Jinarani, who herself appeared the said DPC, submitted the memo after it was found that the 1st to 37th merit list candidates of the DPC, all belonged to Thoubal district .

It was also found that out of a total 254 seats for both General and OBC combined, 112 belonged to candidates from Thoubal district .

The source pointed out that Jinarani filed an RTI application to the Health Department on January 23, this year and the Department responded to the application through Manipur Information Commission on June 24 .

After receiving the reply, Jinarani submitted a memo to the CM and the Health Minister on December 20, to investigate into the processes of the said DPC, the source added .

According to the memo, the DPC was conducted in two phases from August 20 to September 9 (2016) and from November 18 to 19 (the same year) .

The DPC's result were declared on December 20 and 378 candidates were selected while 43 candidates were put on the waiting list .

The memo further claimed that Jinarani, who was not selected in the DPC, passed the class X exam in the 1st division from RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya in 2013 and the class XII exam in 2nd division but the topper of the DPC from Thoubal district, who scored 85 out of 100, passed her class X exam in the compartmental .

The memo also stated that the 1st to 37th merit list candidate of the DPC are all from Thoubal district and 112 seats, out of the 254 seats for General and OBC combined are all from the district as well .

Moreover, most of the ST candidates are from Chandel districts .

The memo, alleging possible unethical practice and misuse of power in light of the election time, appealed to the CM and the Health Minister to launch an investigation into the matter at the earliest, the source added .

The source claimed that even though an SIT was constituted by the new BJP State Government to investigate the issue, the officials of the SIT have failed to properly investigate the matter and it would be right to re-investigate the said recruitment process .

It would not be right for the BJP State Government to remain silent regarding the matter.

If the State Government fails to take up any proper action, then its promise to make the State a corruption free State will be pointless, the source added.
