Imphal, September 23:
Even after having elected Dr L Chandramani as president of the adhoc committee of MPP formed by three regional political parties, cracks seem to have started appearing in the formation of the combined regional force with former MPP central committee member AK Sanaton rejecting the offer of vice president's post.
Central committee member K Rojenkumar had already resigned from the party some days back.
One day ahead of the special session of the party's conference, AK Sanaton has declined the post of vice president offered to him stating that it should be given to some other party member.
In a statement issued to the press, Sanaton claimed that he was not only general secretary of the executive committee and member of various other committees since 1977, but was also the associate editor of Ehou, and contributed his mite in saving MPP from the proposed merger with Janata Party in the past.
Still, he was not allowed to contest in the presidential election of the party conducted in December last year on some flimsy grounds, Sanaton lamented.
While pointing out he had been exculpated from the charges after L Borajao became the president and former president O Joy had also clarified that the charges had been political motivated to win the case, Sanaton maintained that after all these incidents, he does not want to take charge of the post of vice president of the party.
On the other hand, while expressing dissatisfaction over former party president Borajao, Rojenkumar has explained that he took the decision of resigning from the party on account of joining Dr L Chandramani, whom he termed as a person who lacks integrity and hanker for post.
He also appealed to the people to take serious note and study the efforts being made for joining together of all the regional political parties.
