In the backdrop of the ghastly murder of an 8year old boy by a drug abuser, a public meeting was organised at Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal today during which menace of substance abuse and its impact upon the society were discussed.
State Govt's financial assistance of Rs 50,000 from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to family members of the victim boy Laishram Chinglenkhomba was also conveyed in the meeting.
Numerous speakers advocating a mass movement against the growing number of crimes involving substance abusers called upon all the members of the society to join the fight against anti-social elements.
participating in the meeting as a special guest Keishamthong kendra MLA L Jayenta handed over the financial assistance to family members of Chinglenkhomba.
It may be recalled that lifeless body of Chinglenkhomba was recovered from Pishum Chinga Macha on March 12.
