Medical assistance provided to relief camps

Bpr/Imp/Tbl, May 11 2023: To address the health issues of the people affected by the recent communal unrest who are taking refuge in various relief centres opened across the State, many are extending medical assistance to the displaced people.

The Indian Red Cross society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch; the Indian Medical Association; Trained Nurses Association and CC Alumni jointly organised a free-medical camp at Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam relief camp.

During the camp, many individuals were examined for various health issues, said a press note by IRCS Manipur Stafe Branch.

The society further informed that it will continue to extend all possible aid to the numerous displaced people who have been affected by -the communal turmoil.

Free medical camps are being conducted from May 5 last onwards for the displaced people who are taking refuge at relief camps of Pakhangba Community Hall, Pangei; AASHA Club Khundrakpam Maning Leikai; Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam Makha Leikai, NSC Club Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai; YLL Club Khundrakpam Awang Leikai; Cosmopolitan School Chiagkhu; Sambei, Pukhao, Sagolmang and Waiton Community halls.

The medical camps have been, organised under the leadership of Dr Kshetrimayum Kala Singh, Convenor Medical Cell, BJP Manipur Pradesh, said a statement.

Dr Kala also extended gratitude to companies particularly Aristo, Microlab, Glenmark, FDC, Indchemic, Alembic, Johnson & Johnson and Strassenburg who helped by providing medicines and other assistance for the welfare of the displaced, people.

Joining in the noble cause of extending medical aid, Kripadashini Advanced Hospital and Research Institute, Palace Compound extended medical assistance to relief camps opened in Khundrakpam AC and provided free medicines and relief items too.

Saina Institute of Medical Sciences has also started conducting medical camps at relief camps and have been providing medicines and aids to these camps.

Bishnupur

A team of doctors and para-medical staff of Asian Hospital and Research Institute, Kwakeithel Bazar extended medical assistance to relief camps at Moirang Multipurpose hall, LCM School and Birchandra High School, Okshongbung today.

A press release by the hospital said that the medical team examined around 200 individuals and provided medicines as well.

Further the hospital assured that it will continue to provide medical assistance to other relief camps too.

A free health camp was conducted yesterday by a team of doctors and medical staff from RIMS and JNIMS for the displaced people who are taking refuge in relief camps opened under Moirang Municipal Council.

The health camp was jointly organised by National Medical Organisation, Seva Bharati, Ima Pharmacy and Team Prithviraj to address the health concerns of the people affected by the recent communal violence.

The medical team examined the people for various health concerns and free medicines were also provided.

Those with serious health issues were provided an opportunity to be admitted at RIMS and JNIMS.

Speaking in connection, former Moirang AC MLA M Prithviraj said that there are more than 15 relief centres in Moirang AC.

Apart from this, many displaced people are taking refuge in the houses of their relatives and friends, he added.

Prithviraj maintained that the health camp has been organised to check on the health issues of the affected people who are facing extreme difficulties at the moment.

He further informed that such health camps will be held periodically.

Those who have serious health issues will be provided further treatment in renowned Government hospitals, he said.

A medical camp was conducted today at Yairipok Bamon Leikai Khunou relief camp by a team led by Medical Officer in-charge of Community Health Center (CHC) Yairipok Dr Robinson.

The team examined the displaced people who are taking refuge in the relief camp and free medicines were also provided in today's medical camp which was organised under the aegis of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency MLA Keisham Meghachandra.
