Imphal, January 02 2008: Asserting it meant business in its ongoing ceasework strike against the non-implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of the All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO) on Friday has sealed all the Government offices in the State including those in the nine districts of Manipur and the Jawahar Lal Nehru (JN) hospital, Porompat in Imphal East.

The JAC also locked the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) office on Thursday which is probably one of the departments with tight security.

The JAC had been on an indefinite ceasework strike since November 27, 2008 demanding the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.

Prior to the cease-work strike, the JAC had begun the agitation by wearing black badges from November 6 which was followed by pen down strike from November 20 wherein no official works were done.

And with the failure of the state govt to implement the 6th Pay Commission, the JAC started the ceasework strike on November 27, 2008.Intensifying its agitation the JAC on Friday closed all the Government offices in the State.

Though the DIPR was also locked by the JAC on Thursday, the Director of the Department broke the lock and opened the office, informed a source of the Department, adding that work was normal on Friday at the Department.

The JAC has also closed the Social Welfare Department and Command Area Development Authority (CADA) offices.

During a telephonic conversation Inaocha, spokesperson of the JAC informed that all the administrative works in all the Sovernment offices of the State including the JN hospital were now paralysed.

If the Chief Minister is silent on the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, the JAC will resort to new forms of agitation, warned Inaocha.
