Governor gives his personal touch on maiden CCpur visit

Lamka, January 31 2014 : On his maiden to Churachandpur, Governor VK Duggal today pledged to address many wide-ranging issues, from implementation of Sixth Schedule to laying artificial grass at public ground, that were raised before him.

The Governor stated those who have worked with him will know that these issues will now be addressed to thoroughly.

Accompanied by his better-half, the Governor chose to formally interact with the ADC members first, joining them at the Council hall wherein he attentively listened to their grievances and later on shared his thoughts as well.

Telling the ADC Members that his role is more or less constitutional, Duggal confided but that he does not believe in just being a Governor.

On the ADC's call for more autonomy under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, not on the existing basis of grant-in-aid, Duggal said, 'All I can assure you is that the two representation you have given me and the points you have mentioned, that we have noted, that they will be taken to their logical conclusion, and they will be addressed and attended to' .

He added that his assurances could be counted on, claiming those who have worked with him know that it will be gone through thoroughly, examined and discussed.

He also stressed on the need to fully empower the ultimately elected Government in a country like India which is a democracy.

He further claimed that he had discussed the issues of the ADCs with the Chief Minister a couple of times and said the Chief Minister too is absolutely sympathetic to the issue.

Duggal stated that he would meet all the six ADCs in the State before taking their grievances to any logical conclusion but nevertheless indicated that it would be in their favour.

"I intend to meet everybody - all six of them (ADCs) in the next couple of months.

All the words you have said and the points you have given, we have taken note of them, we will take them to their logical conclusion and I assure you that by the time we meet next time, you would say this Governor is a friend of ours," he said.

During his meeting with the DLOs, Duggal sought updates on the status of HIV/AIDS in the district and the working of several Government schemes taken up in the district.

He also sought to know any shortfalls the district may have.

Banking services and electricity were the shortfalls put up before the Governor.

The Governor also visited the District Hospital and interacted with some of the patients, asking them if they were satisfied with the services and treatment they received.

Upon enquiring, the Governor also quipped that he believed he can do something to pull up the BRO which still leaves parts of the Tiddim Road and Guite Road in a pitiable state despite taking it over since 2010 .

The district sports association which has petitioned the Governor to help lay artificial grass at Lamka public ground received an assuring response 'let's take that up' from the Governor, while the JPO which highlighted the poor state of the roads within the town, erratic power supply and scarcity of drinking water, received an assurance to look into it.

Though the Governor had a hectic-day, his better-half opted to skipped the official programmes and instead chose to visit several children homes in the town and interacted with the women SHGs engaged in making dry flowers.
