The Visitor in the Morning
K. Radhakumar *
You came upon me unawares
When I was sleeping.
I woke to an echoing dawn
And looked at the world
Standing before me
After taking a bath
In the April showers.
One day I saw a beautiful woman
In my young wife;
She helped herself to a large towel
After a warm bath
And the room was filled with her scent
The scent of a young wife.
I could feel at one
With the early birds of the dawn.
My life
The spring of my life!
I started life anew
In the early hours of the morning
And was ecstatic about it –
My new life
Totally immersed
In a timeless, deathless entity.
Life is a wonderful experience;
It is not shuttling
Between what I was
And what I will be.
What I am is simply wonderful.
Time merges into the eternal present
The only reality.
'May I take your photograph?'
'Yes, with pleasure,'
Says the young wife.
