Stretching Up To the Heavens
K. Radhakumar *
Life!
I spent an entire morning
Philosophizing
On the meaning of life.
What is life?
We breakfasted at 8
On toast, milk and fruits.
It was not a hearty breakfast
And I did not eat much.
My daddy looked into my eyes
And his looks said:
'What's eating you, son?'
The morning sunshine was not warm
Though winter was long gone.
History of time!
There is no history of time;
It has no past
Nor future.
A moment is complete in itself;
It is never born
And never ceases to be.
And life!
Life is my big chance,
And life is to live
Not to cry
I want to live
I want to live.
I live now or never.
I will not get another chance
Of a warm sunshine.
Life is living a full life
And to be drunk with the joy of living
And attain eternity
In this heaven-sent moment.
Yes, I have attained eternity
In a moment before the day is out.
