Vividhata ka Amrit Mahotsav' concluded in New Delhi
The Rashtrapati Bhavan was a spectacle of cultural vibrancy and unity as it successfully concluded the first chapter of the biannual extravaganza 'Vividhata ka Amrit Mahotsav' focused on celebrating the rich tapestry of Northeast India’s diversity.
The 1st edition was formally inaugurated by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, alongside Cabinet Minister Shri. G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region of India, Shri. Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Earth Sciences, the event received accolades from Honorable MPs, Hon’ble Governors, Cabinet Ministers from North East India, and a myriad of officials, guests, and visitors.
Hon'ble President Murmu, in her inspiring address; while welcoming everyone to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, commended the initiative and applauded the organizers in weaving together the rich tapestry of North East India at the premise of Rasthtrapati Bhavan; further urging citizens to experience and explore the rich diversity of enchanting Northeast India.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region managed through its CPSE, Northeastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC). The biannual extravaganza event was held as a part of Udyan Utsav 2024 at Amrit Udyan inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises, inviting attendees with free entry.
With meticulous planning and dedication, this cultural odyssey marks the dawn of the first chapter of Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav which enthralled visitors with the vibrant showcase of indigenous handloom and handicrafts products, traditional culinary delights, and cultural performances from the eight culturally diverse states of the Northeastern Region called as Ashtalakshmi of India.
The Mahotsav, held in the lush greens of Amrit Udyan at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, featured 300+ artisans and 400+ artists from the North-East engaging in a myriad of cultural folk performances, art exhibitions, ethnic fashion shows, and interactive live demonstrations of handcrafted wonders of North East like loin loom woven items, Lotus Silk Extraction, Muga Silk Reeling, Thangka Painting, tribal jewellery, pottery, organic items, bamboo and cane souvenirs, basketry ,sustainable home decoration products alongside GI agro products and textiles of the region.
North East India’s diversity in language and festivals is incomparable which is indeed the strength and power for convergence. The rich culture and colorful festivals of the region is being portrayed through the spectacular performances of 300 artists in Ashta laxmi Rangoli. Beyond its cultural significance, the Mahotsav was envisioned as a platform for economic opportunities, fostering exchanges in traditional handicrafts, promoting indigenous handlooms, and agro-products.
It provided a great platform for artists, artisans, and culinary experts from these states to showcase their talents and craftsmanship, the event also served as a bridge connecting to the larger stakeholders, which aims to leverage and catalyze the growth and development of the Northeastern region, transforming it into a hub of cultural and economic prosperity.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan, in collaboration with the Ministry of DoNER, NEHHDC, the Ministry of Culture and NEZCC extends its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all participants, supporters and visitors for their enthusiastic participation, making the Mahotsav a memorable and impactful affair which witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of around 1.5lakhs visitors gracing the event from February 8th to February 11th, 2024.
The success of the inaugural chapter of Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav serves as a testament to the unwavering spirit and cultural richness of India, where people from all walks of life Celebrated by Embracing the diverse Cultural Heritage and Immersing in the rich tapestry ofNorth East India.
