Spelling out stir plan for a week : Need to reach out to CCpur

Stir plan spelt out for a week. More than apparent that Churachandpur will continue to witness more and more protests with each passing day.

The intensity may or may not simmer down, but this is besides the point.

What the days of protest have demonstrated is the plain fact that the wound is indeed deep.

And why not ? Nine people, all young people in the prime of their lives killed is not a joke and the wound must indeed be deep.

This is not the time to say who was in the right and who was in the wrong, but take note of the deep wounds that the people of Churachandpur must be living with right now.

Once thought to be the most peaceful district in the State, today this is history and what is happening at Churachandpur today is more than enough testimony that not everything is right there.

This is a point which should have registered in the consciousness of the Government and all right thinking citizens of the land.

So far there is nothing much to suggest that the Government is trying to see how to address the hurt sentiments of the people and this is what is worrying.

As former Lok Sabha MP, Kim Gangte said a few days back, it may help if some of the present political leaders personally address the issue which gave rise to the people’s uprising after the three Bills were passed by the State Assembly on August 31.

Giving clarifications through the media is okay but more is expected from the Government.

This is not the time to point fingers and try to justify oneself, but get down to the business of addressing the issue which has directly affected the people.

The people too need to come to the realisation that dialogue and discussion is the best bet to resolve the issue.

As things stand today, all the MLAs from Churachandpur district have been boycotted by the people there.

Not a question of whether this would help the cause of the people there or not, but a stand has been clearly spelt out and this is something which should be taken note of.

Manipur is today passing through a critical phase and it may not always help to adopt a radical stand.

What is happening in Manipur today is the fruition of the all round trust deficit, a situation wherein no community trust the other.

This is that period when everything has come to be viewed and studied through the prism of communal divides and this cannot be healthy for the place.

Time for everyone to come to the realisation that what is good for X may not always be bad for Y.

This is how a like Manipur which is home to different ethnic groups should live and progress.

This is also the time to weed out all the hate mongers who thrive by sowing seeds of suspicion and distrust amongst the people.

It is a sad reflection of the reality that what Manipur is witnessing today is nothing but the years of distrust amongst the different communities.
