Special Legal Awareness & Outreach programmes across Manipur on 17 September, 2021
As a part of the celebration of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" to commemorate 75 years of India's independence and under the direction of the Department of Justice, Govt. of India and National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authorities conducted Special Legal Awareness & Outreach programmes across the state today, the 17th September, 2021.
As a part of this Special Legal Awareness & outreach programme, Manipur State Legal Services Authority conducted Special Legal Awareness & outreach drive through the Multi Utility Mobile Van of Manipur SLSA. The Awareness drive through the Mobile van started with a Legal Awareness Programme at Khongnangpokpi village under Kangapokpi District.
The special mobile awareness campaign covered 5(five) districts, i.e. Kangpokpi, Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal & Bishnupur. During this special drive, theme of songs of National Legal Services Authority & Manipur State Legal Services Authority, documentaries were shown to the public at various stoppages. Pamphlets, posters containing information about contact details of Legal Services Institutions & availability of free legal services were distributed to the public.
The Special Awareness drive through Mobile Van concluded at 4.30 PM with an Awareness Programme at Changangei Uchekon, Imphal West District. Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority along with Shri A. Guneshwar Sharma, Chairman, Imphal West DLSA; Shri Y. Somorjit Singh, Secretary, Imphal West DLSA; Shri Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA; S. Sadananda, Deputy Member Secretary, MASLSA visited the said Legal Awareness programme at Changangei Uchekon.

As a part of this Special Legal Awareness campaign, the District Legal Services Authorities opened a number of Legal Aid Camps at various villages across the state. The Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers gave legal advice/awareness to the villagers about the existence of Legal Services Institutions and availability of free legal services. The villagers were also given awareness about the rights and benefits under various welfare schemes of the Government such as National Food Security Act, RTE Act, benefits of CMHT/PMJAY card, Labour Card, Lok Adalat & ADR mechanism etc.
Under this Special Campaign, 36 Legal Aid Camps were opened across all the districts in which 3161 persons have been benefited with legal aid/advice and other services and 31 Legal Aid Awareness Programmes were also held covering 72 villages.
