Resolutions of the Joint Legislators’ Forum on Naga Political Issue

A meeting of the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) on the Naga Political Issue of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly along with both Members of Parliament representing Nagaland in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, was held on Wednesday, the 7th of August, 2019 in the Conference Hall of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Shri Vikho-o Yhoshu, Hon’ble Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairman of the Joint Legislators’ Forum. The House unanimously adopted the following:

1. The Joint Legislators’ Forum wholeheartedly welcomes the appointment of Shri R.N. Ravi as the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland. We hope that his gubernatorial appointment will further strengthen and expedite the political negotiations, which will pave the way for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue.

2. The Joint Legislators’ Forum will continue to play the role of an active facilitator to the ongoing peace process and will continue to meet all stakeholders including the leaders of the Government of India to create better understanding in order to cultivate a common voice aimed at bringing early solution.

3. The Joint Legislators’ Forum appeals to all sections of the people, especially the tribal Hohos and the mass based civil society organisations to come forward under a spirit of unity and oneness so that all sections work collectively towards creating and maintaining a congenial atmosphere and a conducive environment for implementation of any new political arrangement that may come about from the ongoing negotiations.

4. As negotiations have been going on for the last 22 (Twenty-Two) years, the Joint Legislators’ Forum sincerely appeals to all the negotiating parties with the Government of India to come together, sit across the negotiating table and rise above all differences and to unite for the sake of our people. We make this fervent appeal so that the political dialogue is expedited for an early, honourable and acceptable solution.
