Out three Ministers and in three MLAs : Politics not governance

Out : Th Debendra, Phungzathang Tonsing, Francis Ngajokpa. In : Ksh Biren, Manga Vaiphei, DK Korungthang.

Out Gaikhangam as president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and in TN Haokip as the new chief of the State unit Congress earlier.

So have the dissidents (never mind their stand against the usage of this term) been placated ?

Most probably yes but have the new changes put the Congress on a more stable wicket ?

Moreover have the changes been effected with an eye on the coming Assembly election or to stabilise the boat ?

This may blow both ways, but difficult to imagine such a situation if the BJP had not come to power at Delhi after the 2014 Parliamentary election.

A damning testimony that what happens in far away Delhi (politically) always impact on the political scenario here and it should be more than obvious that it is the elected members of the Assembly who seem to always invite this.

No lesson learnt at all and to think that this is the reality even though Manipur attained Statehood way back in 1972 and the reality becomes a bit difficult to digest.

Now that the Congress has walked some distance to meet the demand of the dissidents, can one expect the party to work unitedly with an eye to the future, particularly the upcoming Assembly election ?

Most probably a semblance of unity may be put up, but what just happened to the ruling party here may be an indication that there is a leadership vacuum, the absence of a personality who can command absolute loyalty of the Congressmen no matter what the situation is.

It is also interesting to note that though some changes have been made and three MLAs have been inducted into the Council of Ministers, they will not have the time to really carry out their agenda, that is if at all they have something for the people.

What is it that made the dissident MLAs come under the impression that they should go to the voters in 2017 under the tag of former Ministers ?

Moreover what do they hope to gain by being Ministers for such a short time ? This is where a serious doubt arises on whether these Ministers can do anything good for the people.

Moreover if doing certain things for the people was on their mind, then what stopped them from doing them as MLAs ?

Ultimately it is more about personal gratification and not so much about doing something good for the people, which may ultimately fire back on their prospect when election time comes.

Early days yet and yes the newly inducted MLAs can certainly find time to do something good for the people, that is if they are sincerely intent on giving something back to the people.

On the other hand, this is also a statement that the powers that be, read the Chief Minister and his band of faithfuls are reluctant to act, until and unless a hue and cry is raised and this is something which would not have missed the eyes of other political parties.

Ultimately the latest Ministry reshuffle seems to be more about politics and less about governance.
