One Day Discussion On Kuki Nationalism at B Vangnom Community Hall, Lamka
The first one day Kuki discussion held on 3 November 2013 at B Vangnom Community Hall, Lamka was successfully concluded at 5 pm with the participant from different Kuki organizations like KSDC, KSO (GHQ), KuMHR, KIM (Sadar Hills), Women's Human Rights Groups, etc.
The discussion program was organized by Kuki Kibom an organization founded by Dr. George T Haokip which aims to promote Kuki unity through joint discussion and giving awareness to the people in collaboration with Hills Today "People Magazine" and Institute Alternative India. P.S Haokip President of KNO while speaking on the occasion deliberate on the need to secure Kuki territory and he also expressed at length on ZO territory.
He encouraged scholars to work to find out ethnic Kuki people living around the world. Representative of KSDC also spoke on the occasion briefing its history and the need to demand for Kuki state, before Dr. T Lunkim spoke as resource person in the technical session.
Beside Lunkim, the other panelist who spoke on the technical session were Dr. Thongkholal Haokip, Presidency University, Kolkata, Dr. Letkhojam Haokip, Guwahati University, Dr. Thathang Vaiphei, Manipur University and award winner Dr. H.H Mate. Resource persons spoke on various impending Kuki issues which include imperialism, colonialism and political economy, political identity for political movement, viability of Kuki State and Tribal Hill State, ideology, nomenclature and unification, methods and procedures for mass movement. The program ended with discussion and expression of opinion among the participants.
