The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is India’s premier social science Institute. During its seven decades of existence, the TISS has carved out a niche for itself in the field of human service, professional education and applied social science research. It has simultaneously influenced social policy and social work practice through pioneering innovations and interdisciplinary/inter-professional interactions. Spread over three campuses (2 in Mumbai and 1 in Tuljapur), it has proven itself to be a centre of excellence, contributing relevant education and research, towards the national agenda of sustainable, participatory and equitable development.

Applications are invited from candidates for one post of Assistant Professor (ad hoc) in language teaching for the School of Rural Development in the Institute, which is to be filled up on purely temporary basis for a period of 11 months. The position will be based in the School of Rural Development (rural campus) of TISS which is located at Tuljapur, District – Osmanabad (20 km from the district headquarter and about 50 km from Solapur) in Maharashtra.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Good academic record with 55% of marks or equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the 7 Point Scale at the Master’s degree in ENGLISH. A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Masters level for the SC/ST category candidates, and to the Ph.D. degree holder who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or similar test accredited by the UGC. Candidates having the Ph.D. Degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET. Good command over Hindi and/or Marathi will be given additional weightage.

EMOLUMENTS: The selected candidate will be paid a consolidated salary of Rs.16,800/- per month at the minimum of the pay scale of RS.8000-275-13500. Increments may be provided in case of relevant experience and/or important publications.

Center for Criminology and Justice (School of Social Work) Invites applications for the post of “Research Assistants”

TISS requires a Research Officer to work on the project ‘Crossing Borders’ to assist the Faculty members in building curriculum, undertaking training programs, meetings, conducting research, and documentation.
