Heartfelt condolences upon the demise of W. Somorjit and T. Sieleshwor; and
Condemnation of the inaction of the Central Security forces to thwart the terror attack on the Manipur State force at Moreh
The Global Manipur Federation (GMF) extends heartfelt condolences on the tragic demise of Wangkhem Somorjit Meetei (R/No.- 0620211015) and Takhellambam Sieleshwor Singh (Hav. No. 112005762), expressing deep sorrow for those six injured (Rfn. No. 1310818 Md. Kamal Hassan, 3d Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB); Rfn. No. 1310823 Songsuathui Aimol, 3d IRB; Rfn. No. 022006172 Md. Abdul Hasim 3rd IRB; C/No 8018561 Ngasepam Vim, 8 IRB (Spl CD0); ASI Sidarth Thokchom, 8th IRB (Spl CDO); Rfn No. 112005750 K. Premananda of 1st IRB (Spl CDO)) during the combined attack by Kuki Narco-terrorists and Myanmar militants on Manipur state forces at Moreh.
The assault on State forces at Moreh began at 3:30 am on January 17, 2024, at the IRB post near Kondong Lairembi while security personnel were asleep. W. Somorjit lost his life, and six IRB personnel sustained injuries during the attack. T. Sieleshwor, critically injured, later succumbed to his injuries.
Social media reports indicate threats from Kuki Narco-terrorists and Myanmar militants against Central security forces who refrained from retaliation. Kuki women are reported to block roads to Tengnoupal district to impede reinforcements from Imphal reaching Moreh.
GMF vehemently condemns the ongoing terror attack on Manipur state forces by Kuki Narco-terrorists and Myanmar militants at Moreh. The lack of assistance to the state forces facing assault raises serious concerns about those in authority.
GMF questions the commitment of Central security forces under the Government of India, as observed in videos on social media, urging clarification on their inaction against threats. If the Central government is unable to bring the terror attacks on the state security forces under control, the Manipur government should be given full authority to perform its duty within its mandate.
GMF expresses deep concern over the failure to control the law-and-order situation in Moreh and counter threats from attackers promptly. It emphasizes that any armed aggression on Indian soil, internal
or external, is punishable under the Constitution of India. Regular attacks by Kuki Narco-terrorists on civilians, such as the recent Haotak massacre, highlight the urgent need for comprehensive action against
narco terrorism, ensuring the safety of state forces and civilians.
GMF urges leaders to engage with progressive luminaries to address escalating violence in Manipur. Collaborative efforts are needed to stop organized armed aggression, emphasizing the federal constitutional mandates. GMF urges immediate and decisive action against the terror attack at Moreh, prioritizing Manipur's safety and security. The safety of Manipur State forces is crucial to the state's future, requiring leaders to recognize the gravity of the situation and take immediate measures.
GMF stands in solidarity with affected communities, offering support and unwavering commitment to justice. Let us unite for justice, peace, and security, overcoming these challenges together.
