Appeal to Parties and Candidates of 18th Lok Sabha Election

Meitei’s political representation, land rights, socioeconomic development, demographic balance and cultural identity are fast deteriorating due to the lack of constitutional protection and privileges such as those enjoyed by the Scheduled Tribes. Therefore, Meitei Alliance appeals to the parties or candidates who are contesting the 18th Lok Sabha Election from Manipur to consider fulfilling the following propositions.
1. Initiate the process of resettlement and rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons in Manipur caused by the communal mayhem that began on May 3, 2023.
2. A candidate must declare in writing that he/ his party supports the demand the Meitei ST demand and that he/ his party will take up necessary measures including influencing the government to produce necessary reports and send recommendation as required.
3. Defend the political and territorial integrity of Manipur and create a conducive environment to maintain communal harmony among coexisting communities.
4. Enhance India’s national security by strengthening and protecting the Indo-Myanmar international boundary.
5. Immediate enforcement of “Suspension of FMR provision” of the agreement of 2018 (Cite), along the border of India and Myanmar”.
6. Immediate border fencing along India-Myanmar international boundary fixed by the Boundary Agreement Between the Government of India and the Government of the Union of Burma signed on March 10, 1967.
7. Abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki Militant groups which will be crucial for ensuring peace, security, development, and smooth operation of the two national highways.
8. Expedite the updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur.
9. Allocate a special development fund for Manipur to improve its per capita income and bring it to the national average level in the next five years, fostering sustainable economic growth and peace.
