Aid from groups not based in Manipur extended to IDPs
100 blankets were distributed to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at six Relief Camps in Kakching and Bishnupur Districts.
The blankets were a small gesture from the online Facebook group “Backpackers and Travellers India” (BATI) and Prashraya Welfare Foundation (Team Aashraya), a youth led section 8 registered NPO.
The blankets were given to the IDPs in the Relief Camps located at:
1. Nungoo Khongyam Primary School, Nungoo, Kakching District
2. Chairel Government Junior High School, Chairel, Kakching District
3. Tangjeng Khunjao Community Hall, Tangjeng, Kakching District
4. Mangjing Youth Development Association, Tangjeng, Kakching District
5. Chairel Mangjing Community Hall, Chairel, Bishnupur District
6. Thangalawai Awang Leikai Khongnang Makhong, Thanga, Bishnupur District

Shyam Lourembam, a member of BATI said, “ „Backpackers and Travelers India‟ (BATI) is a Facebook group that helps fellow travelers by providing information about places. Priyanshu Khemariya, a member of BATI said in a group chat that he wanted to help people affected in strife-torn Manipur. So, Priyanshu Khemariya, founder and president of Aashraya, and Himadri Deka and Sahin, Aashraya's state coordinators of Assam, sent 100 blankets for the IDPs in relief camps.”
Ringo Pebam, who helped in identifying the Relief Camps said, “The IDPs at the relief camps are in dire need of winter clothes to wear, if anyone wants to donate „used-but-in-good-condition clothes‟, please reach out to my phone number 7005166297 in the next four days, as I plan to go to the camps again.”
