3.15 LIVESTOCK

INFERENCE:-

The above table no. 1V shows that the village has 2158 (99.9) livestock’s out of which 238 (11.9 %) are Cattle, 1393 (64.5 %) are Fowl, 154 (7.1 %) are Pig and 373 (17.2 %) are others.

3.16 AGE AT MARRIAGE

INFERENCE:-

The above table no. V shows that there are altogether 904 married person out of whom 439 are male (99.8 %) and 465 are females (99.64%). INFERENCE:-

The above table no. V1 reveals that there are four types of family sizes. They are very small, small, medium and large. Out of 358 houses, 72 (20.3 %) houses are very small, 217 (61.4 %) houses are small, 56 (15.8 %) houses are medium and 13 (2.2 %) houses are large.

INFERENCE:-

From the above table no. - V11 we know that the highest frequency of the annual income earn in the village is 50,001 and above (52.5 %) followed by 30,001 – 40,000 and 40,001 – 50,000 (9.4 %), 10,001 – 20,000 and 20,001 – 30,000 (8.9 %), 5001 – 10,000 (3.07%) 3000 and less (4.1 %), and 3001 – 5000 ( 3.3 %)

3.19 MARITAL STATUS

INFERENCE:-

The above table no. V111 reveals that there are 1876 individuals in the village. The number of unmarried male and females are 985 (52.2 %). The number of married, widow and widower are 796 (42.4 %), 55 (2.9%0 and 30 (1.5 %). There are only 10 (0.5 %) divorce in the village.

3.20 LITERACY RATE

This table on literacy rate of the Thongjao people includes both the literate and illiterate individuals. Sex wise distribution of the two areas is also mentioned. In the literate category highest number of males (161) belongs to class IX – X category. However on the case of females it comes under the category of class III – V. We find that least number persons is within the category of ‘Post – Graduate’ (males – 9 and females – 7).

From this table, it is seen that 64 females, who belonged to class II – V standard, are within the age group 10 – 14. Only one male individual belonging to the age – group 75 – 79 is found to have studied up to class III – V standard.

As compared to the literate individuals, the illiterate persons are lesser in number (794 individuals). It is seen that 100 individuals (male-52, Female – 48) of the age group (0 – 4) are illiterate because of its childhood stage and are too young to go to School. Next to it, persons belonging to the age group 35 – 39 are illiterate, and it shows the largest number of illiterate individuals than those of the other age group.

As the age – group increases the member of illiterate person’s decreases. So, in the age group of 85 – 89 and 90 – 94, the number of illiterate individuals is 5 and 3 respectively.

3.21 MARITAL DISTANCE

INFERENCE:-

This table shows the marital distance of the spouses in the village. It is found that out of 483 married females, 255 (52.79 %) Thongjao females married themselves within the village (i.e. village endogamy). Likewise 88 (18.21 %) females from (10 km), 37 (7.66 %) from 10 -20 km, 19 (3.93 %) from 20 – 30 km, 32 (6.62 %) from 30 -40 km, 9 (1.86 %) from 40 – 50 km, and 43 (8.9 %) from 50 – 60 km respectively.

As many as 88 females (18.21 %) who are within the range of 10 km to the village got married to the Thongjao males. It is seen that females 43 (8.90 %) from a distance of 50 -60 kms. from Thongjao outmembered than other categories of marriage distance, excepting that of 10 km or less. Only 9 females (1.86 %) are found to be married to the Thongjao males who resides within the range of 40 – 50 km.
