Suggestions to all the UG Organisations, NGOs & Govt in Manipur

By: Shanjoy Mairembam *

Hello all,

I would like to bring a point of discussion on the thinking regarding the improvement of socio-economic conditions of Manipur.

Frankly Speaking, there is lack of intellectuals and experience professionals in all the departments of Manipur Govt. Those who are there brilliant some years ago in the history also have become outdated as there is less update on technology. And moreover, some enthusiastic People's ideas are suppressed; or the ideas are difficult to implement practically. There is not just corruption in the Govt's functioning... but also, lack of proper order and respect among the officials.

So, there is less hope from the Govt side to take the first step. Yes, they can be explained and tried to bring up to the civilised & professional form of govt.

My discussion area is on self entrepreneurship. My point of writing this article is -

There are many people like us who are working and learning in many parts of the world. We would like to share our ideas and implement the same for the goodness and development of the people in our own localities. It is not about privatisation, it is about personality development and self realisation and entrepreneurship. We are still planning and discussing in our own ways to develop and start many projects and companies... Many are there ready to come and share many more...

There is two concepts in terms of investment for business -
1) The first one is to invest anywhere to get the return as per the scientific calculation and methods of reasoning.
2) The second is to Invest with some personal will to the place, where the heart of the investor says, in spite of any other factors going negative to the choice of the place.

The motive of investment is to earn profit. None will simply, just like that, invest money based on emotion or faith. And moreover, no Non-localites will invest just like that in Manipur as all know; none can expect profit or return, but instead put life into horrible situation & danger in not just for money matter but all our efforts and costly lives.

In spite of Manipur going backward & in spite of many other issues, yet, many are willing to come and establish many centres of excellence and reputed institutes and companies like those all over the world in par with the international standards in Manipur. We are among them. Our thinking is growing and still we are learning more and more in the fields we could.

But the question is...
1) Will we be allowed to do our own work???
i.e. Do we need to take permission from any to do our own work in the field we are good in the place where we are born & for the development of the people where we were once together???

2) We have gathered our knowledge reading and working day and nights sacrificing our fun full youthful life, at times. And now, instead of grouping and developing places which is already developed, establishing our dream projects and companies, and settling with cool mind and getting due respect and recognition out of our efforts; we do wish to establish the same in Manipur and in our own locality where we once played and enjoyed while we are kids, this idea out of heart and the idea is not out of scientific reasoning and calculations. But, we would do anything and everything to put ourselves and our locality in the map of specialised companies, people, institutions, etc. We will use all our efforts not just to earn our fruit out of work, but also help others to develop.

3) We will work to make hospitals, schools, colleges, markets, roads, tourist areas, software companies, many more... We will use our knowledge to the maximum we can and what we know. That money and those efforts we have saved out of our own pockets & hard labour, we will invest on our dream projects in Manipur. But, will any organisation and any person in Manipur allow us to do it???

4) Will no organisation extort money from our investment??? Will no organisation press rules and regulations what to do and what not to do on our working??? Will no organisation bother what we do and what we earn and allow us to concentrate on our works???

5) We live in Manipur as a state, India as a country, Asia as a continent, Earth as the Planet, and Milky Way as the galaxy… and so on... inside the universe. We think scientifically and so there is no state, country concept in the mind of industrialists and technocrats though there is actually, we concentrate on investment and return. We work for goodness of people and ourselves.

We are law abiding people. We are concerned more with our job and goodwill of people. Simply we are technocrats. For other issues like nationalism & law, we are not the experts and we do need not bother more on that as, somebody can't do all and everyone has to do take their own responsibility.

The point is - As a worker and as a technocrat, we look for investment of ideas and finance; and we want return out of the investment, and side by side, development of humanity. Saying this, we are not trying to deviate from social issues too. But, we don't feel okay and right in following the saying - "People who know swimming & people who don't know swimming, sharing death while getting drown on the river, just to show emotional love and truth". Let us allow doing our work and let others do their work.

6) As we all are aware, there is no way, Manipur can become a developed state; not even in the next century, via the govt's first step or via any Outlaw organisations or any associations as such in Manipur right now; But We are still changing very fast and Manipur is lagging behind... Unless, people take part and do something in the way we could, there will be no Manipur...

Issues will come up still & will be more complex and never ending in Manipur... since we are trying to cure the problem but not prevent the issues. So, we would like to allow others to pave the path of development to any who wish to do what they could.

7) There should be some kind of declaration that No UG organisation will demand money or extort people to those who are investing effort and money for the development of Manipur. None will start investing unless, someone start the first step. And we are ready for the start and make sure others too realise that they could... there... The future will be great and bright...

Let's have a discussion on those thinking more now... We do discuss problems and we do discuss the causes and remedies for the problems... But we do need to make sure there are no causes at all for the problem to occur, i.e. prevention rather than cure... which is better...

There are many more issues important to life and death ... rather than nationalism & patriotism. A nation is there when there are people who are civilised and in a higher standard of living in pace with the change.
