Children are clay pots, parents are potters

Dr. Satyawan Saurabh *

Whatever shape it becomes, give it whatever shape you want.

Children are like raw clay, they will become whatever shape they give.

Children are like raw clay. Whatever shape you give them, they mold accordingly. There is no discrimination in their mind toward economically weaker students or students of other religions or castes. They learn from the environment around them. They start behaving in the same manner as they see around them. There is nothing difficult if both home and school together decide to impart good values to children. It is also important to give children freedom of expression. The day is not far when our children, along with being great human beings, will not only become great Pandit, and astrologers but also good doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, industrialists, a good farmers, they will have mastery in all. ,

A child... is like the potter's raw clay, which will become whatever you want it to be. Similarly, whatever values and thoughts we inculcate in the minds of children, children will also take the same form. Just as a potter transforms wet clay into a useful vessel by giving it a shape with his art, in the same way, a child is also like wet clay, which is transformed into a beautiful vessel by the potter in the form of the environment around him.

That is why whatever the environment around the child is, it has a deep impact on his development. And the day is not far when our children, along with being great human beings, will not only become great Pandit, and Astrologers but also good doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, industrialists, a good farmers, they will have mastery in all. The kind of upbringing and education you want to give to your children. Parents should maintain the same conduct. Whatever children see and hear comes into their nature.

Therefore, whatever you say in front of children, always say it thoughtfully. You cannot stop children from doing what you are doing and saying by saying 'We are adults, you are children.' This in itself will be another wrong notion inculcated in the minds of children because It is morally wrong, it is wrong for people of all ages. A person's opinion towards society is decided from his childhood.

Therefore, parents and elders in the house must behave well in front of children. Children are bound to make mistakes, but small mistakes should be ignored. Do not abuse in front of children. Speak the language you want to hear from them.

Children want to hear praise for any of their achievements. After all, if family members don't praise, then who will? Therefore, praise them and also encourage them. Give lots of praise for some good work. Not only this, parents often forget that children feel insulted very quickly, so do not insult them. Neither insult the other.

Behave in front of children as you want them to behave. These research findings are very important. Not only parents but all elders should learn from them. Look at the children around you. Watch children playing in the park. Or pay attention to the children boarding the school bus. Many of these children will be found who do not like to meet, talk, or play with anyone. They don't even want to help anyone.

Whereas many children have a friendly attitude. They are always eager to help others. Often we wonder why this is so. Recently such things have been published in the International Journal of Behaviour, through which the minds of these children can be understood.

It is said that children who get love and care from their parents, who have very affectionate relationships with their parents, are always ahead in helping others. In comparison to these, in those whose childhood goes through difficulties, deprivation, hardships, and stress, human qualities like kindness, generosity, and sympathy are found less in them.

Children up to three years of age who are very close to their parents have fewer mental problems even in adolescence. The good thing is, that although parenting is hard work, it is also very rewarding. The bad part is that after a lot of hard and long work, good parenting pays off like a reward. But if we put in all our hard work from the beginning we will reap the rewards eventually and have nothing to regret.

Being a good parent means that you need to teach your child morals about what is right and what is wrong. Setting limits on everything and having good company are the keys to good discipline. Be kind and firm when enforcing those rules.

Pay attention to the reason behind every behavior of the child. And instead of punishing the child for past mistakes, give him a chance to learn for the future. Nowadays children have to be asked to do any work, be it homework or collecting their toys. For every work, they have to be lured with chocolates and toys.

In the beginning, the greed given by the parents gets incorporated into the behavior of the children. Then they start asking on every issue, what will I get if I do this? In such a situation, you will be forced to give some answers. Therefore, do not tempt children with everything. If you want to give something, you can give it after working, but not always. Do not make children habituated to this kind of behavior.

After the guest leaves the house, family members often talk about that person and sometimes point out his shortcomings. Children also see all this and they form the same impression about that person. All this has a deep impact on the minds of children and when they grow up, they also start looking for shortcomings in people.

Many times, even family members are seen talking bad about each other behind their backs. It may seem like a normal conversation but the child watches and listens to all this very attentively. Many children even tell in front of everyone who was saying what about which person.

Therefore, never point out anyone's shortcomings behind his back or speak ill of him. You are a mirror for children or you can say that children are your mirror. Like adults, like children.

That's why child psychologists say that be yourself as you want your children to be. Also, it is important to know how not to behave like this in front of children.
