How great is my mother's love for me?

Ninemhoi Marim *

Love has no bounds especially for a mother to her child or children. Mama, the first word that comes out from a baby during the first cry makes the mother elated. If we ask our mother how much she loves us, she will have a volume to tell us. We will see a sigh and her eyes filled with tears of tenderness and love. That will reveal the story of our birth pangs and the stuggle she had undertaken when we were a helpless babe in her arms.

She will have no words to acclaim the pain that she had undertaken to make us what we are today.one can find out the definition of"a mother" in the dictionary. It will tell or give us who she is to us in a language of vocabulary. But there is no word that can explain to us "who is a mother to us".

Our mother might make many compliments of appreciation, words that are embarrassing, encouraging and sometimes us but we must not hate who she is because she is our mother after all. She is the one who makes her sons and daughters to face every obstacle in the path they travel. One can't explain how much one loves the mother even though one becomes the President of the country. Well, we may say she loves us and takes care of us but there will be something deep within which will burn inside stirring the love of the mother.

We can taste everything that is delicious in our kitchen or any place. But even if we have power and money we can't buy and taste a mother's love. Even though this century is well advanced in surrogation we need a woman to be a mother and to bring forth the child. No technology can bring about a child.

There are millions of children who don't know what a mother to them and thousands are still yearning for that love which they don't get in their life. They are like who have not felt the warmth of the sun even though they are under the sun, and grow physically but not emotionally. Who can bridge the broken life of theirs?

We are lucky to have and get mother's love and some of us are unlucky just to get some love. We take it for granted our mother's love and so we fail to say say, "Mother we love you". The greatest love that we can bestow to our mothers is to obey them and accomplish her desires in our lives bringing glory to her, getting a note, "she or he is brought up by a great woman". We must try our best to make their harvest plentiful as we are the crops to them and which they harvest in due time.

We cant say, we don't love our mother because she leads a life where this society doesn't approve, but rather show the society that we are those persons who can be a good example, showing the things that my mother has taught me to do when I grew up. Let me not feel shy to tell who my mother is.

Most of the great leaders of the world tell us how their mothers took care of them to make them what they are, they proudly tell of their mother's sacrifices to make the ends meet forgoing even a day's meal. Just reflect, close your eyes and ask how much do I love my mother? And next how much does my mother love me? You will know and certainly get the answer that I got this life just because of my mom and all I am, is just because of her even though people may call her mad or some other names which humiliates us as we hear.

Some of us might have missed our mother's love but don't go behind what I have missed, rather go forward. Even Napoleon the great has told us "Give me a good mother that I can conqur this whole world." In every religious book there would not be a book where there is a role of a mother. She is a goddess who comes in the form of a human being in our life. We as her children must show our great respect to her and there in nothing greater than loving, showing respect and reverence to her.

I once read a story of a young boy Once a little boy came to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his mom dried her hands in an apron, she read it and this is what it said.

"For cutting the grass: Rs5; for cleaning up my room this week : Rs 5; for going to store for you: Rs 5; taking out the garbage: Rs 5; taking care of my little brother while you were not there :Rs25; for getting a good report card: Rs 10; for cleaning up and making the yard: Rs 10; total owed: Rs. 65.

Well his mother looked at him standing and she could see memories flashing through her mind she picked up the pen and turned over the page he'd written on and this is what she wrote.

"for nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me -no charge, for all the nights that I have sat up with you doctored and prayed for you-no charge. For all the trying times and all the tears you've caused through the years –no charge. For the toys, food, clothes, and wiping your nose: no charge.son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is no charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, tears filled his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said 'mom, I sure do love you and then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote, 'PAID IN FULL''. So nothing in this world can replace her. A research says that a human body can bear only 45 doll (unit) of pain. But at the time of birth a mother feels up to 57doll (unit) of pain which is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at the same time. It's a great wonder if we deeply think of it.

Mothers at all the times should never, never be neglected or ill treated. She is a super being made for every purpose; she is the one who washes the dozens of our clothes, where the world's best machine is uncomparable to her, she is the best chef have ever met in my life because a special taste called love is added to the food that was prepared for us. She is also one of the eagles whom God has sent for us whose wings are always safe and sound to carry us in the journey of life, she is one of the power boosters we had in good times as well as in bad, a banker too at all times ready to give in times of need.

We may fight and argue with her and then say sweet words, "sorry mom I don't mean all the words that I spoke to you", and we will see that she has already forgotten it and she has only words of love for us.

Getting the best mother's award doesn't mean that our mothers aren't the best . We must also make a special day for her, being special deep down in our own hearts. If our hearts have no love for our mother then the gifts and the day we make and give for her is of no use. They are worthless even to throw away.

As this day is a special day , made special day for our mother, everyday is special but today is the most among the 366 or 365 days we got in our day to day life. Let no tears come from her eyes today and for her whole life because God counts her tears too and that tears is meant for joys and happiness not for the evils we do as her children.

Go change your life, wake up, try out something different from today, tell her from your heart "I love you mom", there will be no words from her because her love for you is becoming bigger and greater each day we grow up. Also don't forget to make a prayer for her, never mind what religion you belong, who you are, what you are, a family that prays together stays together, ask God to send for her thousands of blessings, hundred fold.

God will surely hear your cry made for your loving mom, as God too have his own mother who made him."Hear,my son, your father's instruction, and reject not your mother's teaching; for they are a fair garland for your head, and pendants for your neck." Proverbs 1:8-9

She is someone made for us, others are still wanting for a mother who will take care of them . Wishing all the mothers a very happy, joyous, pompous mother's day, may the good lord always be beside them and a happy long life with good health.
