Date of Entrance Test 28th April, 2013 (SUNDAY) 3.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. along with the AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) 2013, for LL.M Degree Programme conducted by the National Law University, Delhi*

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936, as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work, to meet the emerging need for trained human service professionals. It was accorded the status of deemed university in 1964, and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). TISS is a postgraduate Institute of national stature today. Since its inception, TISS has consistently worked for the promotion of sustainable, equitable and participatory development, social welfare and social justice. It has earned recognition as an institution of repute from different Ministries of the Government of India (GoI); State Governments, International agencies, such as the United Nations; and the non-government sector, both national and international.

A high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute facilitating strong linkages between education, research, field action and knowledge dissemination. In recognition of its social contribution and academic excellence, it was awarded a 5-star rating by NAAC in 2002. In 2009, TISS was reaccredited by NAAC and awarded a Grade 'A' with a score of 3.88 out of 4.

TISS invites applications for admission to the One Year, Full time, LL.M Degree Programme for the academic year 2013-14 commencing from July, 2013. Eligibility, total number of seats & other details for the programme are as under:

Eligibility for LL.M (Full Time) One year Degree Programme: LL.B. Degree in law with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). The candidates appearing in final LL.B. Examination in April/May, 2013 can also apply. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can appear for the Entrance Test subject to a condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with prescribed percentage of marks at the time of interview.

Pattern of Entrance Test
The pattern of examination will be the same as AILET which is as follows:

Entrance Test:
Total Marks 150
Duration of examination 90 Minutes
Subject area Law of Contracts, law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory
Total Number of questions
Objective Type 100 questions of one mark each
Essay One Essay of 50 marks on the topic of law from above subjects

Total Seats: 30 Seats [Reservation: 15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 27% for OBC(NC) and 3% for persons with Disabilities.]

Admission to LL.M Degree Programme (TISS) will be conducted through AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida and Patna on April 28, 2013 (Sunday), between 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm

Application Procedure**

The admission shall be through a written test to be conducted by National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) followed by personal interview at TISS, Mumbai.
Eligible candidates are required to download the application form available on the TISS website https://www.tiss.edu and send the filled-in application form by Speed Post to the Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, V.N.Purav Marg, Deonar, Mumbai 400 088.

Candidates are required to download the prescribed Application Fees Challan and deposit Rs.900 + bank charges along with the filled-in Challan in any SBI branch as application fees. Candidates should super scribe on the envelope “Application for TISS Admission to LL.M Degree Programme in Access to Justice”.

Unemployed SC and ST candidates, whose parent’s /guardian’s income for financial year 2011-12 is less than Rs. 2 lakh, are exempted from paying the Application Fee. Candidates belonging to Denotified Tribes (DNTs) from Maharashtra, whose parent's/guardian annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh (Rupees One Lakh only) for financial year 2011-12 are also exempted from paying the Application Fee.

Application Fees
Mode of Payment: Cash Deposit in any SBI Branch using the prescribed challan (Rs. 900/- + Bank Charges).

Instructions for Payment
Download the prescribed Application Fees Challan copy and deposit the cash amount along with the Fees Challan in any SBI branch. The bank will return two parts of challan (students copy and TISS copy) along with bank seal, signature and SBI journal number. Attach the “TISS Copy” of the challan to the Application Form. Preserve the “Student copy” of the challan till Personal Interview gets over.

*Note:
TISS has a tie up with National Law University, Sector 14, Dwarka, Delhi 110078, for admission test AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) 2013. Candidates who apply to LL.M (TISS) have to appear for the AILET Exam, 2013, of the National Law University, Delhi, at the respective centers that will be notified to you only after your application form is accepted by TISS. The Pattern of Entrance Test will be as per AILET.
Selected candidates will be called for the Personal Interview at TISS, Mumbai.
The classes for LL.M Course will be conducted at TISS, Mumbai.

** Candidates who have already appeared for the TISS Personal Interview for LL.M held on March 12, 2013, need not apply again. Their results will be notified on TISS Notice Board and Website www.tiss.edu, tentatively by end of April 2013.
