The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi, Manipur is proud to announce the commencement of its Education Tour on 15th March, 2024 headed by Mr. Mathiuchunbou Rimai, President along with his executive in alignment with the resolution no. 3 passed during its 1st Legislative Assembly convened at Aling Village on 9th March, 2024.
The tour aims to cover all the 90 Liangmai villages that lies within the LNKRM jurisdiction, under the theme “Educate, Agitate and Organise”.
The tour reflects the importance of empowering individuals though advocating for necessary changes, and fostering unity within the community. This ethos is crucial in addressing the pressing issues faced by the
education sector in the Hill Areas of Manipur state exacerbated by the impact of Covid-19 and the ongoing ethnic crisis in Manipur.
The current state of schools in hill areas paints a grim picture, with many lacking basic facilities such as proper school building, infrastructure and other basic needs of the students. The disparity between schools in valley areas and those in hills areas is stark, highlighting the historical neglect of the education sector in these regions.
Furthermore, the union appeals the education department and schools’ authority to cooperate in necessitating immediate action in the field of education sector. For which the union appraised the teachers who are posted in all the Liangmai inhabited areas to be stationed in their appointed school during the visit.
The organisation urges the education department to ensure that the appointed teachers fulfil their duties diligently and advocates for strict measures to improve the quality of education for all.
In addition, It is unfortunate to have learnt that some of the Liangmai villages have been cultivating poppy plantation. Whereas, the Government of Manipur is battling for “War on Drug” our own people are involving in such illegal practices.
The LNKRM strongly denounces illegal practices such as poppy cultivation among the villagers and emphasizes the importance of steering towards excellence, particularly in education. The organization fully
endorses the Resolution No. 4 passed by the Liangmai Naga Council during the half – yearly meeting held on 12th October, 2023 at Malek, Tamei and appeals to all stakeholders to collaborate in transforming
the education system in the region.
As the Education Tour kicks off, LNKRM calls upon concerned departments, teachers, parents, and community members to join hands in creating a conducive environment for learning and development. Together, we can
strive towards a brighter future for our children and uphold the values of education as a cornerstone of progress.
