Community based gardening for a blooming Sendra Lambi

We are pleased to share that along with many humble people of Blooming Moirang , Incredible Moirang , Sendra youth club , Manipur cycle club , Kangla Facebook group , Kangleipak express and the local Meira Paibi organisation , a joyful gardening afternoon has been organised where the young and old, leaders and the common public came together with one purpose - building a beautiful community spirit through public gardening . This was held on the 7th of August 2016.

Our sincere words of gratitude to the local people who lived around the Sendra Lambi , who came out in huge numbers and took responbility to make the gardening activities successful and share many encouraging words .

We are immensely grateful to the Honourable MLA Mairembam Prithiviraj who alongwith the many common people planted many trees in a street he calls his own and that would remain for atleast a 100 years .

Special words of appreciation to Nepram Gitkumar , Chief town planner and Chingshubam Menaka , the inspirational lady behind the many cleaner Imphal activities who interacted , shared their wisdom and helped plant trees and the gardening .

The idea to undertake gardening activities in this scenic route was taken 5 years back and its planned over the course of the last few years in a series of discussion both in England and Manipur. The immense responsibility undertaken by Elangbam Satyajit m his wife Mairembam Mona and Mairembam shivaraj have enabled this initiative to materialised.

This scenic road, Sendra Lambi must be very special as it inspired many to join the gardening event including many from Imphal and beyond . During the gardening activity , 50 trees including 3 year old ficus/ Khongnang Macha , Bamboo fence and Zinia flowers on erected flowers pots were planted over a stretch of 700 feet of the road.

We wish to share that Sendra Lambi have also inspired the late Sir Jeremy Morse , our loving Patron and loving friend of Manipur. He who would have immensely pleased and inspired by the many people who answered to the call from Sendra Lambi and planted many trees that we believed would survive for atleast a 100 years .

We are dedicating this special afternoon held in this beautiful part of Moirang and many of the trees in his loving memory.

We are grateful to Lady Belinda Morse , author of Calamity and courage : Heroine of the Raj for her support and advice for this community based gardening activities.

Let's hope Sendra Lambi and the wonderful community spirit seen in this community gardening would inspire many more kind hearted people in the region and transform many streets and roads into blooming pride of the land .
