PTCC clinch MNCA Superplate Tournament title

Imphal, May 03 2023: PTCC, Patsoi overpowered ESU, Wangkhei by 161 runs in their summit clash to lay their hands on the trophy of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament 2022-23 on Wednesday at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak, Imphal East.

bat, PTCC scored 208/10 in their 40 overs as Hijam Hemachan-dra top-scored for the Patsoi side with 55 and Andyro-shan Mandingbam impressed with 50, followed by Yambem Kaikuyamba (42), Paonam Champion (17), Mangshang-bam Veekash (16), G Gomi, Sharma (4), Dominic Moirangthem (3), Shapam Kenjit (1) and Naorem Victor (1) .

For ESU, Chitaranjan Sharma claimed four scalps, Thokchom Nishikanta picked up three, and Hemchand and Sanatomba took one each.

PTCC dished out a brilliant bowling display to bowl out ESU in 19.2 over for a paltry 40 .

Sohail Akram and Naorem Victor were the main wicket-takers claiming three wickets each as Shapam Kenjit took two and Sadananda Okram accounted for one to help their side to a dominant title triumph.

In ESU's chase, M Bi-mananda (19) and Thokchom Nishikanta (11) were the only batters who scored in double digits.

Courtesy of their triumph, PTCC pocketed Rs 1, 50, 000 in prize money while ESU received Rs 1, 00, 000 .

Chongtham Mehul Shreth, who scored 305 runs and 19 wickets in 8 innings, took home the man of the series trophy as Sohail Akram won both the highest wicket-taker (25 wickets in 9 innings) and the player of the final match for his 3 wickets in 5 overs.

On the other hand, Ningthoujam Sanjit was adjudged the highest run-scorer for his 368 runs in 6 innings.
