Imphal, March 22 2015: Ngangom Bala who has been crowned with , the Best Women Footballer of the Year 2014 title was felicitated today at Irengbam Mapal Kangj eibung community hall under the I aegis of the Youth Front Irengbam.

Among others, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam attended the felicitation function.

While noting that more and more Indian people have been acknowledging the excellence of Manipuri sports persons.

Govindas attributed the lacklustre performance of Manipur contingent in the recent National Games to lesser hours of intensive practice.

Even as the State Government is unable to provide sufficient quantum of financial support to State players, the Government of India decided to set.up a National Sports University in the State In view of the spectacular performances given by Manipuri players in different National and international championships over the years.

Bala should work harder so thal she can win more laurels in the coming years, Govindas exhorted.

It is a matter ot pride for Manipur that Bala won the Uest Footballer of the Year title after beating all contenders from different comers of the country, remarked MLA Dr I Ibohalbi.

He further assured to explore all possible means in order to fulfil Bala's wish of developing a proper ground for training young footballers.

Parliamentary Secretary (Sports and Tourism) M Prithiviraj, MLAs S Bira and N Loken were also present at the felicitation function.
