Mary Kom eyes gold at Asian, CWG

Though unable to realise the dream of winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics-2020, six times world boxing champion MC Mary Kom, won the bronze medal at the London Games, is eyeing gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
In her last Olympic appearance, Mary Kom launched the campaign to win gold medal at Tokyo Olympic-2020 but luck did not favour her as she lost in the quarter finals.
The boxing legend, however, is not disheartened by the failure in the Olympic Games and optimistic of winning gold medal in the next Asian Games and Commonwealth Games with new courage and spirit.
With boxing ineligible for those crossing 40 years in Olympics as of now, Mary Kom has no chance of taking part the next Olympics but she is determined to get the gold medal in the next Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
Nevertheless, the boxing legend said that she got new courage and strength after Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated all the participants of Tokyo Olympic-2020 .
While having breakfast with entire Olympic contingent of the country at his residence recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi drew attention of Mary Kom and said that win or loss is part of sport but the boxing legend contributed a lot for the game not only in India but also for the world The PM also said many young girl players have new ray of hope due to your contribution in the game.
When she arrived at Imphal airport to take part in the felicitation ceremony to be organised by state YAS department Saturday, Mary Kom informed The People's Chronicle that she feels proud that the state government will be felicitating all the Olympians when they return from Tokyo.
Though I could not earn a medal from Tokyo, my colleague Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal and a bronze later by Nilakanta Sharma and this made me more proud, Mary said during an exclusive interview with this daily.
