2nd Autumn Sports Meet kicks off

Imphal, October 22 2013: The Kuki Students' Organisation, Imphal (KSO) kick- started its 2nd Autumn Sports Meet, 2013 .

Football and volleyball are the two sports of the event which will go on till October 26 .

The opening ceremony of the sports meet which was held at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband was attended by Minister of Education M.Okendro as chief guest, Commissioner of Higher Education and NCERT P.Vaiphei as guest of honour and president of All Tribal Students' Union (ATSUM), Emboi Serto as functional president.

Representatives of ATSUM, KSO general headquarters, DESAM, KSO Delhi and Zeliangrong Students' Union were also present during the opening ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Education Okendro highlighted that sports can bring all the different communities of the state together as one which helps in bringing peace to the nation.

He therefore encouraged the conduct of such sports activities often.

Donating Rs 20000 to the organizing committee, he also assured any help if needed.

A total of 24 teams including college teams are participating in the sports meet.
