DM RAO beats CITY Club, YOSC wins in CC Meet

Imphal, December 21 2012: DM RAO, Awang Sekmai and YOSC, Khurai registered their first win by defeating their opponents after a tough fight in the ongoing 56th edition of Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2012 organised by the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

In the first match today, DM RAO, Awang Sekmai beat CITY Club, Heirok 2-1 in a tough fight.

The was an interesting match between the two teams who tried to outsmart one another to register their first win in the tournament.

However they found it almost impossible to get behind the defence of their opponents to open their goal account.

As the match progress with ever increasing challenge, CITY Club player N Bobocha made the ultimate blunder of the match which later proved to be a fatal blow that become the reason for their defeat.

The referee awarded a handling penalty against CITY Club when Bobocha accidentally touched the ball kicked in by DM RAO player Sh Rabichandra towards the net.

Rabichandra took the penalty shoot and successfully converted it into their first goal of the match.

Amidst tough fight between the two teams, the first half ended 1-0 in favour of DM RAO.

In the second half, CITY Club players looked for every possible chances to sneak behind the defence of their opponent to square back the game.

As a result they got their chance when A Susin successfully converted a straight kick into his team's first goal in the 61st minute of the match.

However their joy was shortlived when A Nitesh scored another goal for DM RAO in the 84th minute.

However, CITY Club players did not lost heart and tried their best to equalise the score, but they got too little time to reorganise and strike back against the strong defence of DM RAO and lost the match.

Sh Rabindra, K Rajendro of DM RAO and N Bobocha, K Biken of CITY Club were issued a yellow card each for their unsporting behaviour during the match.

Meanwhile, the second match which was played between YOSC, Khurai and YPHU, Lalambung Makhong ended in a 1-1 draw during the normal time.

In the penalty shoot out, YOSC scored four goals and won the match against two hits of YPHU.

The match began with high notes among the players.

The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw.

In the second half, YPHU drew the first blood in the 73rd minute through O Boboy.

However it was equalised in the very next minute by YOSC's L Bharat in the 74th minute.

In the penalty shoot out, O Ajoy, T Lanchandra, K Premkumar and Palmeilanchalung took the successfull shots of YOSC while the two hits of YPHU were taken by H Sanjoy and M Dhananjoy.
