Ward number 2 (B), 8 (A) win in Kanggui Inter Ward Tourney

Kangpokpi, January 25 2018: Ward number2 (B) had a narrow 1-0 win over Ward number 16 today in the first match of the ongoing Kanggui Inter Ward Wise Tournament at Brig M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs.

Len Doungel, a playmaker and Captain of Ward number 2 is back after an angle injury in the previous match with Ward number 11 and produced a strong combination in the midfield with Thothoi giving its striker S Vaiphei a chance to brilliantly break the opening in the 6th minute.

Ward number 2 (B) got a penalty kick in the first half while Ward number 16 got another penalty kick in the second half but both team failed to convert it while Ward number 16 Lalboi was booked yellow card for intentional handling in the 49th minute.

In the second match, Ward number 8 (A) thumped Ward number 5 team 2-0.Seiboi (26th) and Lalgoumang (59th) scored for Ward number 8 (A) while Danny of Ward number 5 was booked for his unsporting behaviour in the 47th minute.

In the third match, Ward number 4 (A) and Ward number 6 ended with a goalless draw after an intense battle which also witnessed two expulsions on the part of Ward number 6 defender Lunneihao and Ward number 4 (A) midfielder Lunkhothang in the 53rd minute for their undisciplinary behaviours.

There will be no football match tomorrow owing to Republic Day celebration at Brig M Thomas Ground.

However, Volleyball match will be conducted after the celebration at Sports Complex, Kangpokpi DHQs.

On Saturday, Ward number 10 and Ward number 7 will play in the first match at 11:00 am while Ward number 1 (A) and Ward number 14 (A) will play in the second match at 12.30 pm and Ward number 12 and Ward number 9 will play in the third match at 2 pm.

In the first men's volleyball match today at Sports Complex, Ward number 13 defeated Ward number 1 (A) while Ward number 14 out clashed Ward number 17.In the women's volleyball, Ward number 1 has been given a walk over since Ward number 10 failed to turn up while in the second match Ward number 2 (A) defeated Ward number 13 .

Tomorrow, Ward number 4 and Ward number 6 will play in the first men's volleyball at 2:00 pm while in the second match Ward number Ward number 16 and Ward number 5 will play at 3 pm.

In women's category, Ward number 14 (B) will play Ward number 8 in the first match at 2 pm while Ward number 5 and Ward number 12 will play in the second match at 3 pm.
