Imphal, June 06, 2014: In a ceremony organised at HQ IGAR (South), Major General Rajeev Chopra IG AR (South) felicitated 9 Sector football team for winning the coveted DGAR football championship.

Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the team effort and especially complimented Riflemen LR Zuala and Riflemen Bulu Jidang whose splendid performance brought the winning laurels.

He also added that Manipur has always produced world class sportspersons in various fields like football, boxing, hockey and Archery.

The footballers of Manipur have always made their mark in the National events.

The Assam Rifles as a force has identified some of these ace footballers and has given them an opportunity to hone their skills.

Brigadier M K Das, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles, who was also present and spoke on the occasion, complimented the team for their splendid performance and exhorted them to win greater laurels in the future.
