3rd Sadar Hills District Veteran Sports Meet conclude

Kangpokpi, March 22 2015: The 3rd Edition of Sadar Hills District Veteran Sports Meet, 2015 which began on March 4 came to an end on Sunday at Sadar Hills Veteran Home Ground, Ngahmun playground in Sadar Hills.

The meet was close with the football match between J.Songtun Area Veteran and Kanggui (Kangpokpi) Area Veteran where Kanggui Area Veteran won the match with 2-1 .

Earlier, the proceeding of the last day of the meet began with third place match of football between Tujang Area Veteran and Sapormeina Area Veteran.

The match was watched by Jacintha Lazarus, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Senapati and other dignitaries.

Organizing sports meet not only to promote sports but most importantly the spirit of sportsmanship among various participating teams or community which in turn can settled various issues peacefully observed Lazarus.

Later in the day, an exhibition football match between various top ranking Government officials including all the guests of the second session and a mixture of Sadar Hills MDCs and village chiefs was played.

The government official team includes P.Doungel, IPS, Addl.DGP, N.Kipgen, IFS and L.Kipgen, IPS, DIG Range-IV where P Doungel saved numerous attempts and helped top ranking Government official's team in winning the match by 4-2 .

Doungel stressed on the importance of physical fitness even after old aged which give comfort and flexibility in various sphere of life after the match and lauded the efforts of in organizing the sports meet.

Kanggui Area Veteran, winner of the sports meet received a cash award of Rs.50,000/- plus trophy while second place J.Songtun Area Veteran has been awarded a cash prize of Rs.30,000/- plus trophy.

Sapormeina Area Veteran and Tujang Area Veteran were awarded the third and fourth place trophy respectively while IB Area Veteran begged the Best Team award.

Meanwhile, Hencha Kipgen of Tujang Area Veteran, Thanglenlal of J.Songtun Area Veteran and Jangminthang of Kanggui Area Veteran were awarded Hattrick, Best Player and Best Keeper award respectively while with 8 goals in his boot Tonglet of J.Songtun Area Veteran begged the top scorer award.

.NSehjalien Gangte, Secretary Sadar Hills Sports Veteran Association Manipur (SHSVAM) said that the sports meet has been organized to promote the value of tolerance and fellow feeling as well as to strengthen traditional bond of amity, understanding and harmony among the people and veteran sports fraternity in particular.

Urging the people to rededicate themselves to promote the friendships and unity among different communities in the areas for better unity and understanding Lunthang Haokip, EM (Med.&Vety), ADC Sadar Hills who is the president of SHSVAM anticipates that the sports meet be the harbinger for a happy and prosperous as well as active life to all.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Lunthang Haokip, EM (Med.&Vety), ADC Sadar Hills who is also the President of Sadar Hills Sports Veteran Association Manipur; MDCs of ADC Sadar Hills, bureaucrats; Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills; KSO Sadar Hills; TSA Sadar Hills; various village chiefs, church leaders and various UGs official of SoO signatories.
