Inter School U-14 & 17 boys Football Tournament begins

Imphal, November 04 2015: The State Inter School U-14 & 17 boys Football Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) began today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was graced by YAS Director W Bhaktaraj Singh and YAS Joint Director Kh Pramoda Devi as chief guest and president respectively.

In the U-17 boys' opening match, Chandel were held to a 1-1 draw by Jiribam.

Chandel's goal was netted by Rolland while Gainghamlung found the equaliser of Jiribam in the 54th minute.

In another match, Imphal East humiliated Kangpokpi by a margin of 5 goals to nil.

The winning goals were scored by Kh Tondonba (50th, 54th), Krishnakanta (37th, 59th) and Naocha (63rd) .

In the third match of the day, Ukhrul blanked Tamenglong by a margin of 2 goals to nil.

Tamreingam and Paimi scored the winning goals in the 48th and 53rd minute.

In the U-14 boys' group, a treble from Lalsiem in the 24th, 40th and 63rd minute helped Churachandpur hold Imphal West 3-3 .

Imphal West witnessed their goals from S Sagar, Md Azad and Ronaldo in the 10th, 34th and 44th minute respectively.

In another match, Kangpokpi registered a convincing 7-2 win against Imphal East.

Kaigunhao's treble in the 16th, 64th and 66th minute, a double from Lhungousem in the 30th and 56th and strikes from Lengoushem (23rd) and Lalminthang (50th) gave the seven winning goals to Kangpokpi.

On the other side, IE witnessed their goals from Nonglei and Y Ajit in the 19th and 69th minute.
