Locals demand workers' release

A sit-in-protest was staged at Athokpam bazar in Thoubal district today demanding immediate release of the workers, who were abducted by unknown armed persons from Kanglatongbi on January 18 .
The JAC constituted against the abduction of the two workers, said that intense agitations would be initiated with supports from various civil society organisations if the duo are not freed within January 22 .
Abducted PWD Khalasi workers, Thongam Santa (54) s/o Moirang of Thoubal Athokpam Awang Leikai and Maibam Tomba (35) s/o Mangi of Thoubal Nepra Company, were engaged in black topping works of an inter-village road near Kanglatongbi temple.
They were abducted from their khola (makeshift hut) by three armed persons on January 18 at around 9 pm.
Santa is a father of three children while Tomba has a kid.
Grenade attack protested: Locals of Tentha Khunou today staged a sit-in-protest in denunciation of the grenade explosion occurred at the residence of Moirangthem Indrasana of the locality at around 7.30 pm on January 18 .
